The Department for Business, Energy and Industial Strategy has been divided in two. Grant Shapps, the BEIS Secretary of State takes charge of the new department for Energy Security and Net Zero, whose acronym might sound like a sneeze. Graham Stuart, the Climate Minister goes with him. Some have welcomed this separate focus on energy and net zero but what it principally generates in the short term is dust and confusion.
The new department combining Business and Trade is headed by Kemi Badenoch. Science is hived off to a new department – Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. The reshuffle produced a list of new ministers. We will aim follow progress and report what this will mean for the community energy sector.
